All-Africa Open Paragliding Challenge
Competition Details and information
Dates: December 16-22, 2007 (Sunday to Saturday).
Venue: Porterville, Dasklip Pass
CIVL Rank: Cat II
Format: XC - (usually Race to Goal or Elapsed Time – this may change)
Max. Entries: 135 pilots
Glider limitation None – but those flying prototype- or modified gliders must provide:
- Serial Number (on glider) and Line-plan
- Description of modification(s) (documentation)
- Load Test Certificate
- Written authorization from the manufacturer (quoting serial number) that the particular pilot is approved to fly that particular glider.
Verification GPS Only (Please bring your own download cables)
Registration 1. On-Line, or via fax. (to be verified at Meet Centre)
2. At Meet Centre - Saturday, 15th from 15:00 to 20:00
3. At Meet Centre - Sunday, 16th from 07:30 to 09:00
4. At launch before pilot's first flight (verified at Meet Centre)
Meet Centre Flyer's Lodge, Porterville
Provided
- GPS upload of standard turn-points (pilots might need to load some 'new' points manually)
- Map with Turn-point list and their co-ordinates
- Rules (On-line, and Posted at meet centre, hard copies will be made available if needed)
- Daily transport to- and from launch site
- Retrieve from en-route task roads (but not from private land)
- Ambulance and Paramedic service
- Competition T-shirt

- SAHPA membership (full- or temporary)
- Insurance documentation
- Radio (VHF-FM: 141.6 and 141.625) - NO VOX!!
- Reserve parachute (recently-packed)
- Suitable Helmet
- GPS recorder – (correctly set up) with altitude in track log time stamps.
